Bridget Takyi - murdered in Etobicoke, Ontario

Bridget Takyi, age 27, died on January 19, 2013, on the street in Etobicoke, Ontario. 

She was nearing her car and on her way to work at around 4 a.m., when she was confronted by her former boyfriend, Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, age 30, of Toronto. He is alleged to have stabbed her numerous times and set her on fire with gasoline.

Her body was so badly burned that she was unrecognizable. 

Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah is charged with first degree murder. He is the father of Bridget's two sons.

In December, Owusu-Ansah was charged with assaulting Bridget with a weapon and threatening to kill her. 

Anyone who has additional information to provide to the Police is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

Bridget worked as a waitress at Pearson Airport. On the night of her death, she had dropped her toddler-aged sons at her mother’s house before she set off for work. 

Friends describe Bridget as a very private person who kept the issues of domestic abuse to herself.

Bridget had just graduated from a medical office administration program at Centennial College. She was hard-working. She rarely ever took days off and she volunteered at a hospital downtown every week.

Friends describe her as a caring, genuine person and a good mother to her boys. 

Bridget is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her mother and her two young sons. 

God save us from those who once said they loved us and then they kill us. Amen. 

Let us pray that Bridget Takyi is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
