Kyle was a member of the Illinois State Police. He had 8 years of service in Law Enforcement.
Kyle was making a traffic stop on I-55, at mile marker 62, near Litchfield and had parked his motorcycle on the shoulder and was speaking with the driver of the vehicle when he was struck by a tractor trailer and killed.
Kyle entered law enforcement as a Madison County sheriff’s deputy in 2004 and moved to the state police in May of 2009. He had switched to motorcycle duty because it allowed him to move from the night shift to days, and see more of his growing family.

Michael, Archangel, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Kyle |
Family members describe him as a wonderful person. They are devastated by his loss.
Police officials stated that Kyle was a very, very good police officer who was going places. He was dedicated to his career. Other police officials stated that Kyle was one of those men you love to be around.
Kyle had been one of 29 Illinois troopers sent to New Jersey this month to help with cleanup efforts after Hurricane Sandy.
Kyle is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Barry and April Deatherage; 2 brothers and a sister; his wife, Sarah; daughter Kaylee (age 4); and son, Camden (age 10 months).
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
