Petty Officer 1st Class Kevin R. Ebbert, age 32, of Arcata, California, died on November 24, 2012, while supporting stability operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan.Kevin Ebbert was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
It was reported that Kevin was shot.

Kevin had been in the Navy for approximately 5 years. This was his second deployment to Afghanistan.
He intended to return home early in 2013 to start medical school.
Military officials describe Kevin as a courageous patriot.

Kevin is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Charlie Jordan; and his wife, Ursula.
