Cheryl was in town for the Thanksgiving weekend. She had been partying at the Gillespie Nightclub in downtown Louisville on Saturday night. After midnight, she was shot and killed in the vicinity of the club.
Cheryl was a student at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. She was taking fashion design and was set to get her college degree in May of 2013.
It has been reported that Cheryl accidentally stepped on a man's shoe at the Nightclub. She ended up outside the club arguing with that man and his friend. The argument escalated and Cheryl was shot in the chest.
A bystander took Cheryl to University Hospital, where she underwent surgery. She died within two hours of arriving at the hospital.
Friends describe Cheryl as a rock for her family, an amazing person who genuinely liked being around people and having friends.
