Thomas Wroe

British Private Thomas Wroe, age 18, of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, died on September 15, 2012, in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

He was shot by a man in an Afghan Police uniform.

Thomas served in the 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of Wellington's).

He joined the Army in September of 2010 and was deployed to Afghanistan on July 1, 2012, shortly after his 18th birthday.

Military officials stated that: "His confidence, sense of humour and ever present smile made him hugely popular and fun to be with." He is also described as professional and having a positive attitude. 

Family members stated that Thomas was a brave, young soldier who is greatly loved. He is also described as having a bubbly personality and a great smile. 

Thomas is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Claire and Mick; and sister, Demi; and his girlfriend. 

Pray for the 18 year olds who die in combat. Yesterday, they were just boys. 

Let us pray that Thomas Wroe is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
