Joshua Yasay - Toronto, Canada

Joshua Yosay, age 23, of Ajax, Ontario, died on July 16, 2012, in Toronto, Canada.

He was attending a street party when he was shot and killed. Also killed was Shyanne Charles, age 14. Twenty-three other by-standers were also shot but lived. Even a toddler was grazed by a bullet but has recovered.

About 200 people were at the barbecue held outside a community housing complex when two gunmen opened fire after an altercation.

There is a strong indication of gang involvement in the incident. One of the injured has been taken into custody as a person of interest.

It may be that gang members were fighting each other and mowed down 25 other people in the process, killing 2 innocent bystanders.

Light a candle for Joshua.
Light his way to Heaven.
Joshua was working for a security company at the time of his death, but he wanted to become a police officer. He had earned an honours degree in criminology from York University. He graduated in June of 2011.

He also coached basketball and had volunteered with the Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto for two years. Friends there describe him as a special mentor for youth.

His employers described him as dependable and a remarkable employee.

God help us. Jesus, Mary and all saints and all angels pray that we are saved from the freaks who hold no value to life. They are the lost ones. Who, with a soul, shoots into a crowd of strangers?

Joshua is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his sister, Jennilyn Yasay.

Pray for those who die by the random acts of strangers.

Let us pray that Joshua Yasay is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
