Brandon Pepper

Staff Sgt. Brandon R. Pepper, age 31, of York, Pennsylvania, died on July 21, 2012, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained from an insurgent attack on his unit.

Brandon was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

He grew up in Baltimore County and graduated from Kenwood High in 1999 where he played on the  wrestling, soccer and lacrosse teams.

He joined the Army Reserves in January of 2000. He entered active duty in 2008. In 2009, he graduated from the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course.  He received his Green Beret in 2011. 

This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.  He had deployed to Iraq in 2003. 

Family members stated that he was outgoing and made friends easily, always smiled and was there for his family when he was needed.  They are proud of his service to his country. 

His awards and decorations include the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with one oak-leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" device, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 2 device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 2 device and the Special Forces Tab, Expert.

Brandon is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his mother, Geraldine; and his brothers - Derek, John and Nick.

Let us pray that Brandon Pepper is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
