Taylor Baune

Cpl. Taylor J. Baune, age 21, of Andover, Minnesota, died on June 13, 2012, in Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from an insurgent bomb explosion.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California.

Taylor graduated from Andover High School. He joined the Marines in September of 2008. This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

He was married 3 months ago to his high school sweetheart and called the San Diego area home. 

High school officials describe Taylor as a bright student and a good man. 

Family members describe him as having a passion for life, loved to meet new people, never took a day for granted and determined. He is also described as a happy go lucky young man who lit up a room with his presence. 

Taylor's decorations included the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan.

Taylor is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Gary Baune; a half brother and half sister; his wife, Colleen; and his former stepmother, Rebecca Lavalier. Taylor's mother had predeceased him. 

Taylor is the 2000th American soldier to die in Afghanistan.
