Brian Ilesic - Security Guard - Alberta, Canada

Security Guard Brian Ilesic, age 35, died on June 15, 2012, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Brian and two other security personnel were shot and killed during an early morning robbery of an armoured vehicle at a Mall at the campus of the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Another security guard was severely wounded.

Brian was an employee of G4S Security. He had only worked for this company for several months.

Father, place Brian on the
Stairway to Heaven.
The shooting took place after midnight inside the HUB Mall, which contains retail stores and restaurants on the first floor and several storeys of student residences. The north end of the mall, where the shooting took place, has at least four automated teller machines in a small area. It is believed that the security officers were loading automated banking machines with cash when they were attacked by another security guard, a co-worker, who attempted to rob them of the money. The suspect in the murders is Travis Brandon Baumgartner, age 21, who has been arrested.

Family members said that they devastated by his loss. He was a joy to be around. He was deeply loved by his family and friends.

Brian is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his 12 year old daughter.

Pray for all who are killed while performing their jobs.

God save us from the thieves who steal away our lives. Amen.

Let us pray that Brian Ilesic is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
