Jeffrey Rieck

Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey J. Rieck, age 45, of Columbus, Ohio, died on April 4, 2012, in Faryab province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained during an enemy attack by a suicide vehicle borne improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Ohio National Guard, Walbridge, Ohio.

He graduated from Sidney High School in 1984 and from Sinclair Community College in 1994. Jeffrey had served in the Army and was in Iraq for longer than a year before heading to Afghanistan. He worked full time at the National Guard's Family Readiness office.

Friends stated that Jeffrey really believed in what he was doing and that he was proud to do his part for America. 

Jeffrey is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his sister, Jennifer; his ex-wife, Catherine, and his 15-year-old son. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Jayne Rieck. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jeffrey Rieck is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
