Alex Martinez

Cpl. Alex Martinez, age 21, of Elgin, Illinois, died on April 5, 2012, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Angels of God, pray for Alex

Alex enlisted in the Marines in January of 2009 when he was 18 years old and deployed to Afghanistan not long after graduating from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. He was on his second deployment to Afghanistan. 

Alex is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother and his stepfather, Jim Bethke; several siblings; and his wife, Julianna. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Alex Martinez is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
