Daniel Sweeney - Firefighter - Pennsylvania

Firefighter Daniel Sweeney, age 25, died in the line of duty on April 9, 2012, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Daniel was a member of the Philadelphia Fire Department - Ladder Company 10.

Daniel was battling a massive blaze at an abandoned warehouse when an adjacent furniture store he and others were inspecting collapsed, burying them in a pile of debris. He died at the scene of the fire.

Daniel graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School.

Father, place Daniel on the
stairway to Heaven
Daniel joined the fire department in July of 2006 and had been awarded two unit citations during his time in service.

Fire Department officials describe Daniel as a good lad, who was a young and aggressive firefighter.

Daniel is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, David Sweeney, (a retired firefighter); his mother; and his girlfriend, Kristen, who described Dan as an amazing person.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for those who die young and tragically.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Daniel Sweeney is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
