Jake Hartley

British Corporal Jake Hartley, age 20, died on March 6, 2012, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

He was a member of the 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment.

He was from Dewsbury. This was his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. He won the prize for best recruit twice and was the youngest in the Battalion to qualify as a Physical Training Instructor.

Family members stated that they are very proud of Jake's service in the military. They also describe him as a real action man who loved socializing and sport. 

Friends describe Jake as vibrant, lively, unassuming, good natured and very determined.

Jake is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Natalie; stepfather, Mark Taylor; brother, Ethan; stepbrother, Shawn; and stepsister, Niki. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jake Hartley is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
