Edward Acosta

Spc. Edward J. Acosta, age 21, of Hesperia, California, died on March 5, 2012, in La Jolla, California, of injuries sustained on December 3, 2011, when his vehicle was struck by an improvised-explosive device in Wardak province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. He was a combat medic. 

Family members stated that Edward had an interest in the military since a young age and joined the Army in 2008, right after high school. He had also served in Korea in 2009 and was deployed to Afghanistan in October of 2011.

Military officials stated that Edward was a fighter who gave his life on behalf of his nation.

Edward is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Sheryl and Ernie Acosta; his wife Lindsay and their daughter Emmalyn; a sister; and his grandmother Betty McCarty. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Edward Acosta is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
