Mikayla Bragg

Spc. Mikayla A. Bragg, age 21, of Longview, Washington, died on December 21, 2011, in Khowst province, Afghanistan. 

She was assigned to the 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Kentucky. 

She was shot while stationed in a guard tower.

She was known as "Kayla" to her family and friends. 

Mikayla joined the Army after she graduated from Mark Morris High School in 2008. She was scheduled to return to the U.S.A. on January 6. 

She was deployed from Fort Knox in Kentucky to Afghanistan in August. She graduated basic training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was classified as a sharpshooter because of her accuracy with a rifle.

Family members describe Mikayla as a kind-hearted person, who always went out of her way to help others.

Mikayla is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her mother Sheyanne Baker; father, Steve Bragg; sister Kandyce Bragg; half-brother Allen Davids; half-siblings Joseph Bragg, Ariel, Darien and Julian DeForge and step-mother, Amber Bragg.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Mikayla Bragg is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen
