Anthony Downing

British Royal Air Force Squadron Leader Anthony Downing, age 34, died on December 23, 2011, in the U.K.

He had been injured in an explosion near Kabul Afghanistan on December 22, 2011.  He was flown back to the U.K., but succumbed to his injuries.

He was from near Deal, in Kent. Anthony was known as "Ant" to his friends and comrades.

Gabriel, Archangel who stands
in the presence of God, pray for
Anthony
Anthony was an engineering officer by trade, whose generous nature and interest in Afghanistan saw him involved in the planning and conduct of outreach patrols.  He had previously served in Afghanistan from 2007 to 2010.

Military officials describe him as an immensely dedicated, talented and passionate engineer, who was hugely popular and deeply respected by his comrades.

Family members describe him as kind and helpful although quiet and reserved, hard-working and helpful.

Anthony is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents Michael and Masheeda, a brother and a girlfriend.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Anthony Downing is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
