Shane Wilson - Law Enforcement - Georgia

Police Officer Shane Wilson, age 27, died on November 14, 2011, in DeKalb County, Georgia.

Shane was a member of the Doraville Police Department in Georgia. 

Shane started with the department as a dispatcher in 2003 and became a sworn officer in 2007. He was promoted to detective corporal in September of 2011.

Shane was off duty, but on call as part of his department's SWAT team, when he was contacted by dispatchers and directed to respond to a home invasion call in Doraville. He was killed when his vehicle was struck head-on by an SUV on the highway. The crash occurred as he drove to the scene. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

Charges against the driver of the SUV are pending. The driver of the SUV may have been intoxicated. The driver of the SUV was driving the wrong way in traffic. He was driving eastbound in a westbound lane. 

Shane is survived by numerous loving friends and relatives including his mother, Gail Hanson, and father, J.D. Wilson; and Shane's wife, Katy and his son, Liam. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Shane Wilson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
