His unit was involved in checking and clearing land mines and homemade bombs on a road. During the operation, they were attacked by enemy forces and Goran Franjkovic was fatally wounded.
Goran was a Serbian.

He was serving with the 2nd Foreign Regiment of Engineers (2e REG). He joined the French Foreign Legion in March of 2010 and deployed to Afghanistan in September of 2011. This was his first overseas combat deployment.
Military officials describe Goran as motivated and tough, always striving to learn more and to better himself.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Goran Franjkovic is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
