Spc. Robert E. Dyas, age 21, of Nampa, Idaho, died on September 21, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.
Robert Dyas attended Skyview High School. He earned a GED before going in the military. Robert was on his first deployment and was scheduled to come home in January.

Family members describe him as a true hero, who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
Robert planned to go back to school and learn a trade when he got out of the military. He was engaged to Kasey Kobelt and was planning to get married and start a family when his service wrapped up.
Robert is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Melissa Nowland; step-father, Jerry Nowland; brother, Jake Nowland and fiancee, Kasey Kobelt.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Robert E. Dyas is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
