David A. Drake

Pfc. David A. Drake, age 21, of Lumberton, Texas, died on September 28, 2011, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

David was a 2008 graduate of Lumberton High School. David had only been in Afghanistan for three months, leaving for his first tour of duty in June.

Jesus, pray for David
and for all 21 year olds
who die in war, and
who barely had a chance to live
Family members stated that David had dreamed of joining the military, even as a child, and that he was proud of serving his country. They also said that he was loved and respected by everyone.

David is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Tommye Clark-Rivers; brother, Terrance Drake, who is also serving in the Army; and his stepfather, Stephen Rivers.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that David A. Drake is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
