1st Lt. Ivan D. Lechowich, age 27, of Valrico, Florida, died on September 28, 2011, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
He was assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Ivan graduated from King High School and played baritone saxophone in the school band. He studied history at the University of Florida.
Friends describe him as an inspiration to others, funny and interesting, and intelligent.
Ivan is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Richard and Gina Lechowich, of Valrico; his wife Jennifer and their newborn daughter.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Ivan D. Lechowich is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
