Joshua O. Burch - Firefighter - Florida

Forest Ranger Joshua Burch, age 31, was killed on June 20, 2011, while battling a blaze in Hamilton County, Florida.

He was killed when one of four tractors plowing fire containment lines got stuck on a stump. Another tractor came to help, but the flames shifted, trapping Joshua Burch in the fire.

Joshua lived in Columbia County and worked with the Suwannee Forestry Center in Lake City.  Joshua worked with the Division of Forestry for more than ten years.

Forestry officials described Joshua as a dedicated Forest Ranger and Fire Fighter with the Division of Forestry who served the State of Florida and it’s citizens faithfully. He loved to spend time fishing on the river, hunting in the woods he was trying to protect and spending time with his wife and two sons.

Saint Florian, Patron
Saint of Firefighters,
pray for Joshua
He is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Danielle; his two sons, Jeremy and Jacob of Lake City, FL; father, Hollis Burch & Judy Meadows of Pine Mountain, GA; mother, Mollie (Loyd) Gaylard of Lake City, FL; half-brother, Jason Burch, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Joshua O. Burch is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
