James A. Waters

Pfc. James A. Waters, age 21, of Cloverdale, Indiana, died on July 1, 2011, at Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

James Waters was an infantryman who joined the Army in September 2009. After training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he came to Fort Drum in January 2010. He deployed with his unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in March 2011.

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

James is survived by his mother and father.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that James A. Waters is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
