Cynthia R. Taylor


Staff Sgt. Cynthia Renea Taylor, age 39, of Columbus, Georgia, died on April 16, 2011, as result of a suicide attack during a meeting on Forward Operating Base Gamberi, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. 

Cynthia was assigned to Headquarters and headquarters Company, 101st Special Troops Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. 

Cynthia was a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. She joined the Army in November 2003 and arrived at Fort Campbell in April 2004.

Her awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal; Purple Heart Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal; Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge.

Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Maggie J. Taylor of Clarksville, Tenn. and son, Joseph L. Goodwin of Oak Grove, Ky. She is also survived by her mother, Judy A. Hart of Clarksville, Tenn.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Cynthia R. Taylor is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen
