Eric M. Nettleton

Sgt. Eric M. Nettleton, age 26, from Wichita, Kansas, was killed on January 5, 2011, in Dehjawz-e Hasanzay, Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his dismounted patrol.

Eric Nettleton was part of the oldest continuously serving regiment in the U.S. Army — the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment. Nicknamed the Dragoons, the regiment formed in 1836. Now based in Vilseck, Germany, Eric Nettleton served in B Troop, 1st Squadron.

He was a 2003 graduate of West High School, where he played football. He lived in Germany with his wife. His parents live in Wichita.

"He was the kind of person who could walk into a room and make friends with anyone", stated his brother, Clayton.

Eric Nettleton grew up in Wichita with a close family — which also includes his father, Jim, sister, Jessica and his wife, Ashley.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Eric M. Nettleton is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
