Jason was an engineer with the Aurora Fire Department. He had been with the Department since 2003.
Jason was bicycling to work at 7:30 a.m. when he was struck by a pickup truck at an intersection. The driver of the pickup truck said that he couldn't see that he had a red light and couldn't see Jason on his bicycle because of the morning sun in his eyes. Jason was transported to a local hospital where he passed away.
The driver has been arrested for careless driving resulting in a death.
God help us. Has nobody heard of sunglasses?
Fire department comrades said that Jason was an amazing person, who was a colleague and a great friend.
Jason is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Harold Murphy; his wife and 2 daughters, Bridget and Natalie.
