Rogelio Santander - Police Officer Fatality - Dallas, Texas

Police Officer Rogelio Santander, age 27, died in the line of duty on April 25, 2018, at a hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Officer Santander was a member of the Dallas Police Department. He had 3 years of service. 

On April 24, 2018, Rogelio and two other officers attempted to arrest a shoplifter at a Home Depot store in Dallas. 

An off-duty police officer working security at the store and a store employee had detained the shoplifter and found that he had an outstanding warrant. They requested police back-up. 

Rogelio and another officer arrived on scene and attempted to take the man into custody. The suspect drew a handgun and shot both officers and the store employee, seriously wounding all three. 

The suspect, Armando Juarez, age 29, fled the scene but was apprehended later in the day.

All of the wounded men were rushed to local hospital. 

Tragically, the next day, Officer Santander succumbed to his injuries.

Rogelio's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Rogelio is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.
