Jesus Cordova - Police Officer Fatality - Arizona

Police Officer Jesus Cordova, age 44, died in the line of duty on April 27, 2018, at a hospital in Tucson, Arizona.

Officer Cordova was a member of the Nogales Police Department. He had 1 year of service. He had previously served with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office for 10 years.

Nogales is a city of just under 21,000 in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. 

In the mid afternoon, Officer Cordova and other Nogales officers were attempting to apprehend a carjacking suspect in Nogales. The suspect was being pursued by Santa Cruz Deputies.

Officers attempted a traffic stop. The suspect left his vehicle and opened fire on Officer Cordova who was still inside of his vehicle. Jesus was shot several times. 

Jesus was flown to a hospital in Tucson where, tragically, he succumbed to his wounds.

The suspect, David Murillo, age 28, has been charged with murder.

County Sheriff's Office are in mourning over the death of their brother. Jesus was a professional and was an asset to his comrades. He was well-liked and well-respected. He will be forever remembered.

The loved ones of Jesus Cordova are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Jesus is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his expectant fiancee and three children.

Thank you for your service to the community, Jesus.

God save us from the psychopaths and the thieves. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Jesus Cordova is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
