Justin Billa
Police Officer Justin Billa died in the line of duty on February 20, 2018, at a hospital in Mobile, Alabama.

Officer Billa was a member of the Mobile Police Department. He had over 2 years of service.

A 72 year old man was wanted for the murder of his ex-wife. In the late night hours, Justin, along with other officers, went to the suspect's home on a residential street in the Toulminville neighbourhood of Mobile. As the officers approached the residence, the subject left the house and opened fire. Justin was wounded.

Justin was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.

The shooter had retreated back to his house and barricaded himself inside for several hours. He was later found dead at the scene.

Justin had been named Officer of the Month in June of 2016. Justin later stated in an interview: "We need to go back to helping people instead of just taking them to jail and creating bigger problems. That's my ideal of good policing....".
