Damon Allen - Texas Highway Patrol Fatality

Trooper Damon Allen, age 41, died in the line of duty on November 23, 2017, on a highway in Freestone County, Texas.

Trooper Allen was a member of the Texas Highway Patrol. He had 15 years of service.

Just before 4:00 p.m., Damon was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 45 in Freestone County, just south of Fairfield, Texas. The male he was stopping had an outstanding warrant.

Damon was interacting with the driver of the vehicle and had turned to go back to his patrol car. The man inside the vehicle got out and shot Damon with a rifle.

Tragically, Damon, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident.

The shooter, Dabrett Black, age 32, was arrested several hours later in Waller County. He had exchanged gunfire with law enforcement officers during his arrest.

Friends describe Damon as a loving husband and father.

The members of the Texas Highway Patrol are in mourning over the death of their brother. Damon was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.

Damon's loved ones are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Damon is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and his three children.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
