Michael Stewart - State Trooper Fatality - Pennsylvania

Trooper Michael Stewart, age 26, died in the line of duty on July 14, 2017, on a roadway in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

Trooper Stewart was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police. He had 3 years of service. 

In the early morning hours of July 14, Michael and his partner were on patrol. Just before 2:30 a.m., their patrol SUV was involved in a collision with a large truck. 

Tragically, Michael died of his injuries at the scene. 

His partner suffered a non-life threatening concussion. 

The cause of the tragic accident is under investigation. 

Michael was a graduate of Latrobe High School. He then went on to study at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and achieved a degree in criminal justice. As a State Trooper, he had served in both Chambersburg and Greensburg. 

 Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid baseball fan.

The members of the Pennsylvania State Police are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Comrades describe Michael as a man with a sense of humor, a big heart and a big personality. He will be forever remembered.

Michael's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He had an outgoing personality. He was loving and he was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Oceans of tears have been shed for Michael.

Michael is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, Michael and Lynn; his brother, Jason; and his girlfriend, Meredith. 

Thank you for your service to Pennsylvania, Michael. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Michael is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
