Meggan Callahan - Corrections Officer Fatality - North Carolina

Meggan Callahan
Sergeant Meggan Callahan, age 29, of Edenton, North Carolina, died in the line of duty on April 26, 2017, at the Bertie Correctional Insitution in Windsor, North Carolina.

Sergeant Callahan was a member of the North Carolina Department of Corrections. She had 5 years of service.

At about 5:30 p.m., Meggan was savagely assaulted by a male prisoner. Medical staff and other first responders provided medical aid.

Tragically, Meggan succumbed to her injuries an hour after the attack.

Meggan's attacker, Craig Wissink, is already serving a life 
sentence for a previous murder. He has been in prison for 13 years. 

The circumstances of Meggan's murder are under investigation by state authorities.

The members of the North Carolina Department of Corrections are in mourning over the death of their sister. She will be forever remembered.

Meggan's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She was loving and she was loved in return. She did her best. She will be forever mourned.

Meggan is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss her.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Meggan is in Heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
