David Fahey - Police Officer Fatality - Cleveland, Ohio

Police Officer David Fahey, age 39, died in the line of duty on January 24, 2017, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Officer Fahey was a member of the Cleveland Police Department. He worked with the First District. He had 2 years and 6 months of service.

At about 6:00 a.m., David was assisting at the scene of a traffic accident on a highway in a suburban area of Cleveland. He was placing road flares on the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver fled the scene but was apprehended later that day. Israel Alvarez, age 44, has been charged with vehicular homicide.

David was rushed to a local hospital, where, tragically, he passed away from his injuries.

David was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He comes from a family of law enforcement officers.

David's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He loved life and had a kind spirit. He really wanted to help others. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

David is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.
