Michael Fahy |
Battalion Chief Fahy was a member of the New York City Fire Department. He had 17 years of service.
After 6:00 a.m., Michael was working a fire in a 2 storey house in the Kingsbridge area of the Bronx. Neighbors reported a gas smell. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a drug operation.
An explosion occurred and Michael was struck on the head by falling debris from the roof. Numerous others were injured in the blast including other firefighters, gas company workers and civilians.
Michael was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
The entire incident is under investigation by the authorities.
Donations to the family may be made through the New York Fire Department Foundation.
Florian, Patron Saint of Firefighters, pray for Michael and for those who have lost him. |
