It has been reported that 1st Lt. Cooper died as the result of a vehicle rollover while traveling from a U.S. military base to an airfield.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Jeffery was assigned to Headquarters, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
His tour of duty in the Middle East was part of Operation Inherent Resolve which is the U.S. Military's response to ISIS jihadists in Syria and Iraq.
Jeffrey joined the U.S. Army in 2013 and arrived in Fort Campbell in 2015.
His awards include the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.
The soldiers of Fort Campbell are in mourning over the death of their young brother.
Jeffrey was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.
Jeffrey's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Jeffrey is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.
