Tim Smith |
Officer Smith was a member of the Eastman Police Department. He had two years of service.
Eastman is a city of just under 5,000 and is about 145 miles southeast of Atlanta.
In the evening hours Tim was responding to a call that a suspicious person was carrying a gun on a city street.
At about 9:30 p.m., Tim located the subject on the railroad tracks nearby. The subject opened fire and shot Tim. Tim was able to return fire and to radio dispatch.
Tim was rushed to an area hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Tim and for those who have lost him. |
The subject fled the scene. Royheem Delshawn Deeds, age 24, was later arrested by law enforcement officers in Florida.
The Eastman Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was fair, respectful and trustworthy. He could be relied upon. He will be forever remembered.
Tim's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was one of the good guys. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Tim is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including but not limited to his father, Lewis Smith; his fiancée, Chelsea Clark; and his children.

Thank you for your service to the community, Tim.
Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.
God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
Pray that Tim is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
