Stacey Baumgartner |
Sergeant Baumgartner was a member of the Patton Village Police Department.
Patton Village is in Montgomery County and is part of the Greater Houston area.
During the early evening hours, Stacey responded to a call that a man was at a gas station in Montgomery County and was urinating in public.
Stacey arrived at the scene and the male suspect attempted to run over the officer and then sped away from the scene. Stacey and other officers pursued the fleeing vehicle. Stacey's patrol car was struck at an intersection by another vehicle.
The collision caused the patrol car to crash into a utility pole. The other vehicle, an SUV, overturned and an 11 year old boy, who was a passenger, died at the scene.
Stacey was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he died of his injuries.
The man who was the original suspect, Garrett Nee, age 29, turned himself in to the Police. He is facing numerous charges in connection with the death of the 11
Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Stacey and for those who have lost him. |
Garrett Nee is innocent unless proven guilty.
However, we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are drunk, wasted or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.
Regret can last a lifetime.
A funding site has been set up to help Stacey's family with expenses.
The Patton Village Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Stacey had a sense of humor and liked to laugh. He was caring and helpful. He will be forever remembered.
Stacey's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He was greatly loved. He will be forever mourned.
Stacey is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Donna, and his two children.
Thank you for your service to the community, Stacey.
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.
God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
Pray that Stacey is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
Pray for the boy who died so tragically in this accident. He is now with God. Amen.
