Derrick Mingo - Police Officer Fatality - Louisiana

Sergeant Derrick Mingo, age 35, died in the line of duty on June 4, 2016, at on a highway in a rural area of Louisiana. 

Sergent Mingo was a member of the Winnsboro Police Department. He had five years of service with the Department and 12 years with the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office. 

Just after 4:00 a.m. Derrick was attempting to help another officer needing assistance with a motor vehicle pursuit of a drunk driver. 

As he was traveling to the scene of the pursuit, he struck a street in the front yard of another law enforcement officer's yard. His vehicle had careened off the road. 

Ttragically, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

mourning over the death of their brother. He was a great officer, with a kind personality and a ready smile. He was dedicated to his job and to helping others. He will be forever remembered.

Derrick's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Derrick is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife.
