Bradley Long |
Lake Norman is about 50 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Captain Long was a volunteer member of the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire and Rescue Department. He was also a full time firefighter with the Newton Fire Department. He had 12 years of service in firefighting.
On June 5, 2016, Isaiah Cruz, age 29, was reported missing and presumed drowned in Lake Norman. On June 6, 2016, Bradley and another rescue diver were searching the lake for the missing man, when an emergency occurred and, tragically, Bradley also died.
The bodies of both Bradley Long and Isaiah Cruz were recovered.
The family of Isaiah Cruz have stated that Bradley Long is a hero. They are devastated over his death.
The fatal incidents are under investigation.

Brad's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He loved being a firefighter. It was what he was meant to do. He loved helping others. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Brad is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.
