David Hofer - Police Officer Fatality - Texas

Marta and David
Police Officer David Hofer, age 29, of Plano, Texas, died in the line of duty on March 1, 2016, at a hospital in Grapevine, Texas.

Officer Hofer was a member of the Euless Police Department. He had two years of service with the Department. He had five years of service with the New York City Police Department.

Euless is a city with a population of over 50,000 and is about 18 miles northeast of downtown Fort Worth.

Before 3:00 p.m., David and another officer responded to reports of suspicious activity in a park in a residential area of Euless. As the officers approached the park they were fired upon by a male suspect.

David was wounded and was rushed to a hospital where, tragically, he died of his injuries.

The suspect was shot and was pronounced deceased at a hospital in Fort Worth. The suspect has been reported to be Jorge Brian Gonzalez, age 22, who was a meth drug addict who had been released from jail the day before this tragedy.

David had graduated with a bachelor's degree from New York University in 2008. In 2009 he joined the New York City Police Department. He had moved to Texas in 2014. He was engaged to be married to his fiancée, Marta.
Michael, Patron Saint of the
Police, pray for David and
for those who have lost him.

The Euless Police Department is in mourning over the death of their young brother. He was a professional who was an asset to the Department. He had a sense of humor and could make others laugh. He will be forever remembered.

David's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a wonderful young man who had always wanted to be a police officer. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

David is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, his brother and sister, and his fiancée.

Thank you for your service to the community, David.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. Amen.

Pray that David is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
