Patrick Wolterman |
Firefighter Wolterman was a member of the Hamilton Fire Department. He had 8 months of service with the Department. He had previously served with the Fairfield and Colerain Township departments for more than six years.
Hamilton is a city of over 62,000 and is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area.
Around 1:00 a.m., firefighters responded to a house fire. It was a single-family wooden structure emitting heavy smoke.
Firefighters were unsure if the occupants of the house were inside. They entered the building and moments later the first floor collapsed.
Patrick fell to the basement and was mortally injured.
Firefighters made every effort possible to revive Patrick and rushed him to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
The residents of the house were out of state at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Patrick would have turned 29 in January of 2016. He had gotten married in September of 2015 and was a newlywed.
Patrick was certified as a paramedic and also volunteered with the American Lung

The Hamilton Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their young brother. Patrick had a future with the Department. He was a professional who died in the service of his community. He will be forever remembered.
Patrick's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Patrick is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife.
