Bettie Jones |
At about 4:30 a.m., the Police were called to an apartment in the West Garfield Park district by a man reporting that his son was out of control and was threatening him with a baseball bat. The Police were met by Quintonio LeGrier, age 19, who was described as combative. A Police Officer stated that Quintonio lunged at the officer with the bat. Quintonio was shot multiple times and was killed.
The family of Quintonio LeGrier state that he was a college student home for the holidays and that he had recently developed emotional and mental issues.
The family of Bettie Jones state that she simply opened the door of her apartment and was shot in the chest by the Police.
These two tragedies are under investigation by Cook County authorities.
How does it come to pass that Police Officers are so afraid of a young man with a bat
Jesus, pray for Bettie and for those who have lost her. |
How does it come to pass that a female neighbor gets shot and killed by accident?
Bettie was the mother of four daughters and a son. She was a grandmother who worked in a Chicago bakery. She lived in the first floor apartment with her boyfriend. She also had ovarian cancer at the time of this tragedy.
Bettie's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She did her best. She will be forever mourned.
Bettie is survived by many loving friends and family members including her five children and many others who will forever miss her.
Pray for justice for Bettie.
Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.
God save us from those who shoot first and ask questions later. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
Pray that Bettie is in Heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
