Randolph Holder - Police Officer Fatality - New York City

Randolph Holder
Police Officer Randolph Holder, age 33, died in the line of duty on October 20, 2015, at a hospital in New York City.

Officer Holder was a member of the New York City Police Department. He was assigned to Police Service Area 5. He had five years of service.

He was known as Randy to his family and friends.

Randolph and his partner were on patrol in East Harlem and responded to a call that shots had been fired. A victim stated that a group of males had robbed him of a bicycle. One of the thieves had fired a gun.

Randolph and his partner pursued the shooter for 18 blocks.  The shooter exchanged gunfire with the officers and Randolph Holder was shot in the head.  He was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect, Tyrone Howard, age 30, who had also been wounded in the gunfight, was located several blocks away and taken into custody.

Tyrone Howard is innocent of this crime unless proven guilty.  However, he has a rap sheet like Judas. He was wanted by the Police for his involvement in another shooting. He has been described by the authorities as a dangerous career criminal.

The New York City Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was young. He had a future with the Police. He had received five Excellent Police Duty awards and one Meritorious Police Duty award during his five year career. Randy will be forever remembered.
Michael, Patron Saint of the
Police, pray for Randy and for
those who have lost him.

Randy's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a respectful, principled and disciplined young man who had a good heart. He was easy-going but diligent and performed his duties with pride. He loved to read and to socialize.  He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Randy is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including but not limited to his father, Randolph Holder Sr., his teenage daughter, his brother and grandmother in Guyana, and his longtime girlfriend, Mary Muhammad.

Thank you for your service to the community, Randy.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. Amen.

Pray that Randy is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
