Hunter Kelly - U.S. Soldier killed by another soldier near Fort Stewart, Georgia

Hunter Kelly, age 20, died sometime on August 29, 2015, at a home in Long County, Georgia.

Hunter was serving in the 3rd Infantry Division and had just been promoted to Army Specialist. He had 2 years of service with the military.


Hunter was raised in the Reno-Sparks area of Nevada. He graduated from Spanish Springs High School and then joined the military.

Family members describe Hunter as an exceptional soldier. He did what he was required to do and he did it well.

Family and friends describe Hunter as soft spoken. However, he was a driven man who excelled at everything he attempted.

Hunter loved music, and motocross racing. As a kid he was into wake boarding, snowboarding and skydiving. He was an adventurous soul.

Hunter's medals and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

Another soldier, Specialist Peter Petri, age 25, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct in connection with Hunter's death.

Jesus, pray for Hunter and for those
who have lost him.

Oceans of tears will be shed for Hunter. 

Hunter's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their very young brother. He served his country with honor. He will be forever remembered.

Hunter's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He was just a kid.  He was just starting out in life. He will be forever mourned.

Hunter is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Thank you for your service to America, Hunter.

Pray for justice for Hunter.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Hunter is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
