Caleb Collins and Shyheim Andrews - young soldiers who drowned in Hawaii

Spc. Caleb Michael Collins, age 22, and Spc. Shyheim Andrews, age  21, both drowned on July 25, 2015, in the waters off Halona Beach Park, Oahu, Hawaii.

Both men were motor vehicle operators assigned to the 524th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 25th Sustainment Brigade, 25th Infantry Division.  They were stationed at the Schofield Barracks, Oahu. 

Caleb, Shyheim and another friend were off duty and went to the beach.  At about 5 p.m. they were standing on shore taking photographs when a large wave knocked Shyheim into the ocean. Caleb immediately dove in to help his friend. 

Tragically both men drowned in the turbulent surf. 

The third young man was also knocked into the water but managed to get to shore despite being injured. 

Caleb graduated in 2011 from St. Augustine High School in New Orleans. In high school he was a member of the Marching 100 Color Guard and was an outstanding

The military comrades of Caleb and Shyheim are in mourning over the deaths of their young brothers. They will be forever remembered. 

Caleb's and Shyheim's loved ones are devastated over their sudden and tragic deaths. 

Caleb was a caring and loyal young man.  His family is not surprised that he tried to rescue his friend. He is described as a wonderful son and a well-respected friend to many. He will be forever mourned.

Shyheim was a good kid. He did his best. He was greatly loved by his family and friends. He will be forever mourned. 

Caleb is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, Dawn Collins and his father, Ernest Collins. 

Shyheim is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, Inga Andrews.

Thank you for serving, Caleb and Shyheim. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for all who die while coming to the aid of others.  They are the true heroes of the modern era. 

Pray for all who die young.  They barely had a chance to live.

Pray that Caleb and Shyheim are in heaven. Pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
