Kevin McRae - Firefighter Fatality - Washington, D.C.

Lieutenant Kevin McRae, age 44, died in the line of duty on May 6, 2015, at a hospital in Washington, D.C.

Lieutenant McRae was a member of the Washington D.C. Fire Department. He had 24 years of service.

Before 9 a.m., Kevin and other firefighters had responded to a fire in a high rise apartment building in the northwest area of the city. The fire was on the 9th floor.

After the fire was extinguished Kevin collapsed. He was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he was pronounced deceased. It is believed that he died of cardiac arrest.

The Washington D.C. Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He is described as a hero who gave his life in the service of his community. He was dedicated to his family and to his comrades at work. He will be forever remembered.

Kevin's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Kevin is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and three children.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Kevin is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
