Jonathan Krueger - a student murdered by thieves in Lexington, Kentucky

Jonathan Krueger
Jonathan Krueger, age 22, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died on April 17, 2015, at a hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

Jonathan and a friend were walking down a city street just after 2:00 a.m. They were heading home after a party. They were approached by two men who attempted to rob them. The friend was able to run to a nearby house to get help. During the confrontation, Jonathan was shot in the chest and fatally wounded. The suspects fled the scene in a red van.

Jonathan was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

Justin Smith, age 18, and Efrain Diaz, age 20, have been charged with murder in connection with Jonathan's death. It is not believed that these men knew Jonathan.

Jonathan was a student at the University of Kentucky, studying account management. He was a photo editor for the student newspaper. He was also a

member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

A scholarship fund in Jonathan's name will be established by the student newspaper for a promising photographer.

Friends and fraternity brothers describe Jonathan as a hard worker, a skilled photographer and a creative journalist. He was pleasant to be around and had an upbeat personality. He had a sense of humor and could make everyone smile. He will be forever remembered.

Justin Smith and Efrain Diaz are innocent unless proven guilty.

However, we put this question to the thieves who killed Jonathan: What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

Jonathan's loved ones are devastated over his needless and tragic death. He was a good kid. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Jonathan is survived by many loving friends and family members including his mother, Mary Krueger.

Pray for justice for Jonathan.

Pray for all who die suddenly.  They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the thieves. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Jonathan is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
