Siegfried Dove Mortera - Law Enforcement Fatality - Guam

Police Officer Siegfred Mortera, age 49, died in the line of duty on February 14, 2014, at a Naval hospital in Guam.

Dove Mortera
Officer Mortera was a member of the Guam Police Department.  He had 17 years of service.

Guam is an island with an area of 209 square miles located in the western Pacific Ocean.  It is a territory of the United States. The population is just under 160,000.

Siegfried was known as Dove to his family and friends.

On February 11, 2015, Dove was undergoing a SWAT training exercise at Eagles Field in Mangilao, Guam. He was leading a run of other SWAT team members when he suddenly fell to his knees and collapsed at approximately 9:00 am. CPR was performed until medics arrived.  Dove was transported to the Naval Hospital.

Dove slipped into a coma for three days and tragically passed away. He died of a heart attack.

Michael, Archangel, Patron Saint
of the Police, pray for Dove
and for those who have lost him
Dove had had a previous heart attack.  However, Police Department officials are going to re-evaluate SWAT training to see if any adjustments need to be made. Two other SWAT trainees had become ill from dehydration during these training exercises.  They have stated that in future, persons taking the training course will be taken out of the heat periodically in order to cool down and rehydrate.

The Guam Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He is described as a hard worker, a good friend and a family man. He did his best. He will be forever remembered.

Dove's loved ones are devastated over his unexpected death. He will be forever mourned.

Dove is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and his four children.

Thank you for your service, Dove.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray that Dove is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
