Nicholas Dees - Oklahoma Highway Patrol

Trooper Nicholas Dees, age 30, died in the line of duty on January 31, 2015. on Highway I-40, east of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Trooper Dees was a member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He had 18 months of service. He was assigned to the Hughes County Detachment of Troop D.

At about 10:00 p.m., Trooper Dees and Trooper Keith Burch, age 26, were investigating a road accident involving an overturned semi-trailer. Another vehicle hit the semi and both troopers.  Trooper Burch was severely injured and was rushed to a hospital in Oklahoma City. 

Tragically, Nicholas died at the scene.  

The male driver who struck the troopers was transported to a local hospital. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Nicholas graduated from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy in July of 2013.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is in mourning over the death of their brother. He is described as a good guy who did his best. He will be forever remembered.

Nicholas' loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Nicholas is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and two small children.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure.  They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Nicholas is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray for the recovery of Trooper Keith Burch. Amen.
