Jon Bieker - a store owner murdered in Shawnee, Kansas

Jon Bieker

Jon Bieker, age 44, of Gardner, Kansas, died on January 9, 2015, at his gun store in Shawnee, Kansas.

Shawnee has a population of just over 62,000 and is part of the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

The store caters to a female clientele and offers gun safety courses and self-defense courses.

In the early afternoon, three or four men entered the gun shop. It is unknown at this time whether the men were just after guns, cash or both.

One of the men struck Jon's wife, Becky, in the face. A gun battle ensued. Jon was shot and so were three of the robbers. Two of the robbers fled the store, dropping clothing as they ran. They were arrested hiding in a porch.

Jon was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he passed away from his injuries.

Two of the thieves were seriously wounded; one had minor injuries.

Friends describe Jon as a quiet guy who was hardworking, helpful and conscientious. He and his wife took great pride in their gun store. It was a dream

fulfilled. Jon is also described as a man involved in the community who supported the city's Police Department. He will be forever remembered.

Jon's loved ones are devastated over his senseless and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Jon is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife, Becky.

Pray for justice for Jon. 

Pray for all who go to work and who die there.

God save us from the thieves. They are killing us, Father.
